Gamers and spectators at a soccer sport near Geelong have been surprised when a massive bolt of lighting hit a tree near the footy oval – and the spectacular sight has been captured on video.
As a large thunderstorm hit throughout the third quarter on Sunday, gamers from St Joseph’s Soccer and Netball membership have been ushered off the oval in Lara, with the match known as off.

Whereas gamers, umpires, coaches and spectators ran for canopy, Tony Cattanach managed to seize the extraordinary moment a thick bolt of lighting struck a giant tree simply off the aspect of the oval.
At first, Cattanach stated he didn’t even realise what he had managed to get on digicam.
“As (the storms) come through, I thought I’d just get the phone out, and get a little short video of the hail,” he instructed 7NEWS.
“I didn’t actually realise that that lighting strike was in the video until about five or 10 minutes later, and yeah, really couldn’t believe it.”
