Philadelphia, PA, United States (4E) – Joe Biden, the front-runner for the Democratic party’s nomination for the presidency, will kickoff his campaign with a rally Saturday in Philadelphia.
The Pennsylvania-born former vice president seeks a positive push forward in what he hopes is an eventual showdown with current president Donald Trump to lead the country in 2020.
The Philly visit is strategic in a number of ways, as not only would Biden like to continue Democrat’ success with African American voters, but he would also look to regain a state that went Trump’s way in the 2016 election,
Despite fairing poorly in previous bids for the Democratic nomination for president, Biden is doing well so far in this race. He’s polling far ahead of several other Dem hopefuls, including Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren and Beto O’Rourke.
Biden will walk a fine-line during the campaign, however, as he looks to please progressives on issues like climate change while also reaching out to blue-collar voters that Trump appealed to in the last election.
