Washington, DC, United States (4E) – The White House has gone into meltdown following the publication of embarrassing excerpts from a scathing new book about Donald Trump that won’t go on sale until next week.
Media is reporting Trump is “beyond furious” at the expose, which will lend more ammunition to those that want him impeached.
“Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House” goes on sale Jan. 9 but is already the Number One Best Seller on Amazon. The reason is plain to see: this bombshell expose by author Michael Wolff confirms the world’s worst fears Trump is a psychotic who doesn’t know what he’s doing — and acts the part in private.
The stupefying tell-all tale about Trump’s true persona was based on Wolff’s more than 200 interviews with the president and his inner circle and more than a dozen visits to the White House. It covers the first few months of the Trump presidency.
One of the book’s main sources of information is ousted White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.
Disturbingly, the book reveals Trump trusts no one, not even his family, and lives under the delusion everyone’s out to get him. The clinical term for this medical condition is paranoia, which is a central symptom of psychosis.
Wolff also provides a wealth of new details about the unending chaos in the Oval Office caused by Trump’s irrational behavior.
Wolff said Trump’s paranoid behavior constantly manifests itself. He reveals Trump got into an argument with the Secret Service, which didn’t approve his request to have a lock installed on his bedroom door.
Another unnerving tidbit: Trump only eats at McDonald’s because he’s scared to death of being poisoned to death.
“Long afraid of being poisoned, he would say that one reason why he liked to eat at McDonald’s was because nobody knew he was coming and the food was safely prepared,” wrote Wolff.
Trump has standing orders for housekeeping not to touch his toothbrush, also out of fear of being poisoned.
But more damaging to Trump politically and criminally is the revelation that Trump met with Russians whom his son, Donald, Jr., brought to Trump Tower. The Russians said they had dirt on Hillary Clinton. Trump has consistently denied meeting with the Russians.
If true, this revelation opens Trump to criminal charges of conspiracy.
The book quotes Bannon saying Trump likely met with the Russians after their meeting with his son. Bannon believes Donald Jr. brought the Russians to his father’s office.
“The chance that Don Jr. did not walk these jumos up to his father’s office on the twenty-sixth floor is zero,” said Bannon.
He noted that the three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with the Russians without a lawyer.
“Even if you thought this was not treasonous, unpatriotic or bad s***, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately,” said Bannon.
Trump’s senior staff have no respect for him, said the book. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and former Chief-of-Staff Reince Priebus regard Trump as an “idiot.”
Gary Cohn, Trump’s friend, investment banker and chief economic advisor, says the president is “dumb as shit.”
National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster calls Trump a “dope.”
Trump returned the favor and has unflattering opinions of his staff and some of his family. He called Bannon disloyal; Priebus, weak and a midget; former White House spokesman Sean Spicer stupid and ugly; Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway, a cry baby and Jared Kushner (his son-in-law), a suck-up.
Among the more unnerving revelations about Trump made public by Wolff:
* Trump likes to go to bed with his friends’ wives. “Trump liked to say that one of the things that made life worth living was getting your friends’ wives into bed.”
* Trump never reads. “He didn’t process information in any conventional sense. He didn’t read. He didn’t really even skim. Some believed that for all practical purposes he was no more than semiliterate.”
* Trump has an unnatural affection for Hope Hicks, the White House communications director. Hicks and Trump have a very close relationship, with some in Trump’s inner circle seeing Hicks as something of a daughter to Trump.
“(Hope) Hicks was in fact thought of as Trump’s real daughter, while Ivanka was thought of as his real wife.”
* Trump tells his staff lurid details of his life and blames them when these appear in the media. “As details of Trump’s personal life leaked out, he became obsessed with identifying the leaker. The source of all the gossip, however, may well have been Trump himself. In his calls throughout the day and at night from his bed, he often spoke to people who had no reason to keep his confidences.”
